| Bio: | This is a *MODERATED* community intended for the free users of LiveJournal to share information on how to get the most out of their free accounts, how to design and customize their journals, how to integrate external web applications (polls, searching, etc.) into their journal, and the issues that effect their use of LiveJournal. We believe that the free, functional use of LiveJournal was at the heart of its original design and is absolutely necessary to attract a diverse, growing community. LiveJournal is open source software, and the free use of open source websites is traditionally the rule, not the exception. Well over 90% of LiveJournal's users are free users. They come from a variety of backgrounds, and include teenagers, students, the unemployed, and users in other parts of the world, many who cannot easily justify the expense of a paid account. Using a free account is not "freeloading", and that LiveJournal members who cannot or choose not to pay should not be criticized. For this reason, any posts attacking free users will be deleted. | |
